Response surface methodology using Minitab: part-1

1. Go to Stat>DOE>Response surface>Create response surface design.
2. Choose Central composite or box-behnken (C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\7UBYEFN6\MC900292594[1].wmftips: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.jfoodeng.2013.10.003).
3. Select number of factors from drop down menu i.e. pressure, temperature and time means 3 factors.
4. Click design. From submenu choose the first row (block=1, center point=6)+Number of center point (default)+value of alpha (face centered) and click ok. 5. Click factors. From submenu input the factors name and range (other options keep default) and click ok.
6. Click result. Choose summary table and design table and click ok.
7. Now press ok.
8. Upper tab named session will show design table and description.
9. The lower part will show the factors level and run numbers.

10. Save the project. File> save. At this point, the experiment should conduct with the described factors combination. For example, the response at temp. of 60, press. of 20 and time of 5 should be collected. After the collection of all response open this file again by minitab. File>open.
